Deere John

“Chasing a Mongolian Horse”

As one of the best bands of their hometown (Pijnacker, the Netherlands) Deere John have set out to become the kings of DIY indierock.

Their eclectic style mixes 00’s indie rock with a bit of 80’s synth pop and 70’s classic rock. With the occasional dash of Johnny Cash if you listen hard enough. And in some songs 90’s grunge, the still to be released ‘Chicken Wings’ being a strong example.

Menno sings on most songs, but the other members (Frits and Reinier) do take their occasional turn at the microphone. Sometimes Paul chimes in with the gang vocals. Deere John writes songs in true Motown fashion, delivering musical gems on a bi-weekly basis. All members play guitar, keys, bass. Drums are moslty laid down by session drummer Brandon.

While the band is situated in the Netherlands, the band trusts mixing duties to Zach from Canada. And have been heard saying: ‘he’s awesome’. Which he is.

After previous singles ‘Crop Circles’, ‘Mongolian Horse’, ‘Pleasure Hunters’ Deere John released their christmas hit ‘Christmas on My Own’ in september of 2022. Even drawing some attention in the Japanese market!

At the closing of 2022 the world is on fire and people are losing sleep. Deere John delivers their anthem to these sleepless nights with ‘Insomnia’, proclaiming: “Freddy’s got his way!”

In 2024 Deere John released their psychedelic and puzzling new single Nam Myo-ho Renge Kyo. “Lightning strikes again!”
